Tuesday 4

Well, we hope it's easy anyway. Welcome back to Toni's Tuesday 4!

Always good to have you here.Let's concentrate on the little bit of summer that is left shall we? We need to enjoy every season to the fullest I believe.. what say you?

Not much more of summer left so we better enjoy it while it lasts.

Summertime and the Living is Easy?

1. What do you like to do in the summer? I have never been much of a lake person, and the closest thing that resembles a beach is five hours tops from us. Most of the time during summer we stay indoors where it is cooler. We do make a few trips to Six Flags several times of year since we have memberships. It has been extremely hot here in Texas. But soon the temps will be dropping and I am looking forward to that.

2. What is your favorite summertime food and beverage? I don't really have specific food or drinks for seasons.

3. How do you beat the heat? Stay inside where it is cool. If I lived by the beach, I would definitely be sitting outside reading under an umbrella and listening to the waves.

4. What do you really like about the summer season? Well, I don't. Not anymore. I don't like to sweat unless it's on purpose. LOL!

What better way to start off the week than with a smile. Thanks Sandee!

Not exactly a picture, but I just had to share this video of Fiona and her baby brother, Fritz, meeting outside for the first time. Of course, mama Bibi is closely watching! 😍 Awww!

I have been following Fiona for a while now and she is so entertaining to watch. She was born at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden prematurely and was so small she couldn't stand to nurse, so caretakers had to swoop in and help her out. They honestly didn't know if she would make it but she beat the odds and is now five years old! You can read about her and the care she received here.

Birthday Giftie

My supervisor was on leave all last week. Her birthday is today and I more than likely won't see her until Friday since our WFH days are different. I am leaving her a little Birthday gift on her desk tomorrow. I bought her some super cute notepads and a few jumbo pens, with a little Birthday card.

Happy Birthday Ash! 🎂🥳

I have the absolute BEST supervisor and Unit 55 rocks! Seriously though. I work with some amazing people.

Friday Five

 It's time for Friday 5

1. How good are you at wrapping gifts? I think after 35 years, I have become proficient enough. I think I do a pretty good job and I love to match my bows and wrapping paper. 🎁

2. When are you likely to begin your Christmas shopping this year? I keep telling myself that I need to start shopping early. It never happens.

3. How do you feel about candy canes? Well, the only time we have candy canes is at Christmas when we buy a box or two to put on the tree. My son loves mint, but he prefers the chewy kind.

4. Have you been naughty or nice this year? I am always nice. Probably too nice.

5. In what way was today most December-like? It's not. Not here in Texas. December-like means cold, chilly weather. We have broken heat records here in Texas. 🔥

A Time for Change

I grew up in a Baptist church, attending Bible school and going to church camp for a couple of weeks during summers. My mom's parents were active members, with my grandfather being a deacon and my grandmother the church secretary. I believe my aunt was even the organist at one time. It was during my middle school years that my parents stopped going to church on a regular basis. Our church had moved and I guess they just didn't want to make the drive. As a teenager and young adult, I went through that crazy phase, and although church was far from my mind, I still kept my Bible and believed that the man upstairs watched over me. Over the years, I got married and had two kiddos. My husband came from a huge church family of pastors and sometimes I suspect they thought he would follow in those same footsteps. There have been times when I thought they blamed me for standing in his way. We all make our own choices and the choices we made through the years took us away from the church, but not away from God. I was raised a Baptist and baptized when I was 11 years old. Our kids while not raised in church were taught and raised believing in God and the Bible. I even incorporated it into our homeschool.

It has taken me a long time to shed light on some things in my life. But after many years, my faith has been shaken by some of the beliefs I was raised with and my decision to move away from the Baptist faith was cast. For years I have been listening to a local radio station, and on Sunday mornings it is full of different sermons ranging from Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian, and even Scientology. I started reading more in depth about the different denominations, and one day chose to look a few churches up online and watch a few of the sermons. I started focusing more on Presbyterian (PCA). The more I watched and read, the more I started to feel a pull towards their beliefs. Of course just about anything you Google these days will trend on your Facebook page, and that is when I came across Fort Wort Presbyterian Church. In the last month and a half, I have been listening to the pastor of FWPC, Pastor Brandon Eggor. I absolutely love watching and listening to his sermons. It has made me look forward to my Sunday mornings and my Bible is now seeing the use it deserves. Right now, I watch via Facebook Live, but I hope one day that I will be able to attend a church service in person. It would be even better with my family. 🙏🏻

National Doggo Day - Six years already...

Zac is our eight year old Chiweenie and he is such a nut, but we still love him. 🐾 🙃

Today marks six years since we lost our beloved Bo. Man, time sure has flown. Not a day goes by that when outside in our backyard, I don't think about him. He was the best dog a family could have. We miss you Bo!!! 🧡

Game Time

My niece paid us a visit this weekend. She brought Starbucks to Skye and then we kicked back and tried out the new maps on Mariokart on the Switch. Ended with playing Toontown Rewritten. Lots of fun gaming together over the years.

So Long Nerds!!

Our T-shirts arrived. RIP Alex. 🐷👑🗡️

Admins Rock!

Meeting went well. We all got a very nice binder that zips to keep our paperwork in. Contracts made these cute folders with just about every example of service authorization we have to review before sending to them for us. All Admin Techs were also told we are being given a second day to work remote. I work with some amazing people and I have an awesome supervisor! 😜
