Growing up, my mom always made my birthday special, no matter how old I got. I always had a cake, a birthday card, and gifts to open. I have continued this tradition with my own family, but I take it a step further. 😀 Every celebration has some sort of theme for the cake and the gifts. LOL!
This year for my daughter, it was a Venti theme from the game Genshin Impact. Happy 21st Birthday Skye!!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!! 🎄 I am running on fumes. LOL! I think I got maybe two hours of sleep before I heard the not so littles talking downstairs while I am sure browsing through their stockings. We enjoyed some family time opening presents and talking about our new projector and screen that we now have to replace our outdated TV. Afterwards, we hopped on Autcraft to get our presents and advent gifts. By 3pm I was almost falling out of my chair. So I did something that is rare - I took a two hour nap! 😁 My hubby made homemade meatloaf for Christmas dinner and it wa delicious. Tomorrow we celebrate our daughter.
Wishing all a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!! We celebrated over at my sis-n-law's house again this year. The food wasn't bad, but I really miss the traditional sides that we used to have. When I say this, not instant mashed potatoes, or veggies poured out of a can. Fresh veggies that seasoned up and cooked just perfect! Yum! We decided to take a pumpkin pie. It's either pecan or chocolate and the little kids decimate them! This year someone brought one so we ended up just taking ours back to the house. The best dish of the night - my niece Bobby's hubby - excellent green bean casserole!!
Last year, we didn't really even put together a meal because we were all sick. LOL.So it was nice to be able to eat some turkey and ham, and bring home a few leftovers.
Cheers to 25 years to my amazing husband!! 🎉 Today, we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, our silver one. My hubby bought me some pretty pink wildflowers and a card. We had planned on going out and having a nice dinner, but Covid got in the way of that. We are still feeling the after effects, so we just stayed home and enjoyed the evening. One day I would like to do something really special.
Honestly, we really can't afford to do much these days with everything being so expensive. I do get a bit envious of those that can take the many vacations and outings that I see posted on Facebook sometimes, but I am thankful to wake up each day and that God just allows me to be with my family. 💞
My agency was closed today and I had the day off. We spent it celebrating July 4th at Six Flags. The weather was hot, but we had a good time. 😊
I mentioned previously that our major appliances all failed at the same time. LOL! Lowes ran a half off deal not long ago on washer and dryers and we decided to just go ahead and buy a Whirlpool washer and dryer set. We have not been able to get them set up because they are apparently wider than the area where the others were and we are going to have to remove the right side wall of the closet. Hopefully we can get the wall down, re-framed, and get rock on it, and then we can lay new floor tile. The flood messed up the tile.
My sister surprised us! Last week, she sent me a text asking if Buddy (my hubby) had FB messenger. That is a nickname that my husband has always been called. I told her yes, and they had this long conversation which he relayed to me the next day, as I had already gone to bed. My sister and her husband decided to buy us a new fridge!!! 😲 They not only bought us a fridge, but had it delivered and brought in the house. I am so thankful that this happened, and it has been so hard watching my husband try to bend down to reach items out of the small fridges we had been using. He gets dizzy when he leans over too far, which is a side effect of his TBI. I was finally able to get everything out of the two smaller fridges and into this one. Our kitchen is tiny, so these pictures don't do justice, but you can definitely see the size difference. We are so thankful and greatly appreciate this act of kindness!! 💗 It's so nice to have a regular size appliance again.
Mother's Day weekend was spent kicking back at the house. I am still trying to get over this infection and my cough is not entirely gone yet. My wonderful hubby and kiddos got me some special things for mommy's day. 💟 🥰
I woke up to these cute little notes on my computer keyboard from my daughter. My hubby got pretty flowers for me and also took some to the cemetery for my mom since it was raining.💐 I got a couple of cards and some candy, too. My sweet husband also made my favorite meal - spaghetti and meatballs!! 🍝
The weather was nice this weekend so we had planned a trip to the zoo. The traffic was unbelievably crazy, and there was not even a scheduled event taking place. Every parking lot we passed on the way to the entrance was closed. The entrance was actually coned off and two police officers were directing traffic. One of the officers must have been having a bad day because he did not look happy and when my husband asked him a question, he got snappy and was downright rude. He exhibited behavior of someone who should NOT be wearing the uniform. Needless to say, we should have gotten his badge ID number and name and reported him. We were finally directed in and found a parking space relatively close. Wow.
We had packed lunch and had our cooler full of drinks, too. While we were eating under the covered picnic area, this little guy kept coming up to my husband. The pumpernickel bread didn't go over well, but the little guy likes Doritos! LOL!
The day was beautiful and we ended up getting to see some of the big cats and a few other Texas animals that were hiding the last time we had visited. 😊
Happy 24th Birthday to our son T!! 🥳 We hope you have had an awesome weekend celebrating. Six Flags yesterday and a Birthday celebration today with gifts, homemade enchiladas, and cake!! 🎂 I am one proud mom of this young man!!! He has a heart of gold!!
We went to Six Flags today for Viva Fiesta and T wanted to go for his birthday weekend. 😊 It was a really nice day to be out and about. The weather was nice and breezy and we decided to grab lunch at JB's BBQ and eat outside. We walked around and enjoyed the day. The only ride we hopped on was the Mine Train and they are now set up for Flash Pass. Yay! That means we will be able to take advantage of our skip the line passes that come with our memberships. We rarely use them because the rides you can use them for we don't ride. But the Mine Train is our favorite!!! Fun day!!!
Today my mom would have been 81 years old! Time passes way too fast. I often think of my mom. She was a very kind and caring person. She would bend over backwards to help someone out, and did often. I have so many memories, both awesome, and then a few not so awesome. LOL. But I do miss her greatly. She would have been the one grandparent that stood by my kids!

Cheers to 2024! Tonight we kicked back at the house, just like all our New Years Eve's the last several years. My hubby made a ham, white rice, cornbread and some veggies. We poured some sparking cider and toasted the new year. Well wishes to all for a blessed year!!!
