FMLA starts Monday!

This week has been a bit crazy at work. I decided to go ahead and make the routing logs through January. I have gone over everything with Sobrina relating to the On Call Schedule and entering it into IMPACT. She already knows hot to use IMPACT for routing, so I just needed to go over how the cases are logged in Excel. Hopefully everything runs smoothly while I am out. We will see! 👀

I also had a one on one with my PA. I won't go into details but I did inform her of everything that has been happening the last year up until my conference with my supervisor. Some of it she was not pleased to hear about.

Decisions, decisions

Well, I have thought about it long and hard all week. I spoke with my husband Thursday night about all that had happened in the last couple of weeks, and my decision has been made. I will be taking my supervisor up on her suggestion that I take FMLA.

My doctor has been wanting me to get labs done and since I was still getting over bronchitis when she mentioned it again, routing the following week, and this week was just busy I was not able to get them done. I had emailed my supervisor Thursday afternoon before work ended for the day to let her know that I would be a little late to the office Friday morning so I could go do labwork. She went into freak mode questioning how long it was going to take, how many hours would I be gone, etc., etc. I seriously did not know what to say. It's lab work. It's not an appointment. It's a walk in and wait. I had no idea how long it would take. I could go and get right in and out, or I could be there for a bit waiting. Needless to say, I did not go and have my lab done that day. I figured since I am taking FMLA I would just wait. Geez. Ashley would have just said, "Sure, go ahead", and that would have been the end of it.

I emailed my supervisor today to let her know she can start the process. Now I will be able to schedule any doctor appointments and any labs needed.

Disappointing Day

Well, today went to hell in a hand basket. My supervisor had scheduled to have a 'conference' with me. She actually came up to the office on her remote day for this conference. Yeah, it was one of those meetings and it turned into one of those days.

The conference started out asking me how I was doing and if I was feeling better. How routing was going, etc. Then she says, "It was brought to my attention that there was an incident that occurred yesterday and then explained about what she was told. My new worker had gone to my supervisor after she had given me her LE letters to mail. They had actually had a meeting and were in the conference room. She told her that I was unprofessional and that I had lost my cool with her. 😵 Excuse me? How in the world is asking what all the extra paperwork is unprofessional? How is saying I wish people would tell me when things change unprofessional? This is my job!!! If changes are made, I need to be aware of them so I am not doing my job incorrect!! WTH! I asked my supervisor if this was coming from my PA, and she said no, that it was coming from her. So, I sat there and explained how that 'incident' went, and mind you, my other supervisor was right there speaking to both of us when this took place. So, during this so called conference, I was enlightened on how we all need to work as a team and help each other, etc., etc. I was enlightened on my conduct. I was enlightened on how being stressed can cause irritability and mood changes. After my supervisor had her say, I told her that I have been stressed out lately, which is probably why I can't get well as fast. So, I laid it all out. I was so angry on the inside. I told her about my daughter and what has been going on for months. I told her about my husband. Yes, things have been hard at home. Yes, things are tight. And yes, it has been hard juggling what is happening in my personal life and at work. But I do it. I still work, even when I am not feeling well. I have never been unprofessional at work. I have always worked as a team player. The problem with team playing is that everyone needs to be on the same page. It's called Teamwork for a reason and the only way it runs smoothly is when we all know what is going on. If changes have been made then we ALL need to be made aware and trained the same way. But I am always trying to help out when needed, probably more so than any of the other admins. And yes, I do perform tasks that they do not. I am the one that makes the routing logs every month. I am the one in charge of the On-Call schedule that has to be kept updated, not only the paper copy, but in IMPACT as well. It is time consuming and when other admins decide they want to take off during crucial days like their routing week, it causes the back up router to have to stop what they are doing, stepping in to fill that role since they are out. When you have two admins take leave, that makes it even more difficult, as their duties have to be covered, too. At one point during the week, I was the only Tarrant county admin working, and that is just not fair. Honestly, things have not run smoothly for over a year, when the other two admins left. My team knew everything and we worked so well together. I miss them.

I was told that she understands that I have not been feeling well and I appeared to be stressed. She then brought up FMLA. She asked me if I had thought about taking leave. I have the hours. She had to at one time herself take leave. She also gave me a brochure for our EAP program. Geez. By the end of this 'conference' I was definitely not feeling it. Especially when I was presented with a paper that I had to sign stating that we had this meeting and what was talked about. Oh, I signed it. Against my better judgment, I probably shouldn't have. I feel now like by signing it, I was agreeing that I was in the wrong and I was not. I don't feel like this should have even taken place. I have had nothing but praise since I started this job. I have gotten two merit bonuses in the time that I have been working here. Call it what you will, but I just got written up for the first time in my adult life for something that I feel just didn't happen. 😟

Out Sick - blah

I am not one for calling in sick to work, especially when I could easily work from home. I took off work and used sick days for Monday and today because I am just not feeling it. Ugh. It started with what felt like congestion from drainage. It's definitely in my chest and the coughing is really taking a toll on my muscles. Now my voice is gone and I am horse. 😵

Happy Admin's Day!

Today is Administrative Professionals Day. Since this day falls on a Wednesday and that is normally my remote day, I am not usually at the office. I swapped my office days this week and got to celebrate with my co-workers. The CPI PA, Jess, ordered pizza for all of the admins and handed out cupcakes!! We were special today! 😊

Hellish Day!!!

Working from home today has been a nightmare! First time EVER that I have never gotten up on time because I didn't set my alarm! 😂 I usually just wake up. Not this morning. My daughter texts me "Mom, aren't you supposed to be working?"

I had left work late yesterday because I worked with my Program Administrator all day, so I didn't get home until after 5:30. I forgot to shut my system down, so when I tried to login to IMPACT this morning, I got a message saying my password was not correct. Then it dawned on me that I had gotten an email (second reminder that I obviously ignored) saying my password expires today. Yeah. LOL!

Spent the next 45 minutes on the phone with IT resetting everything. Then Outlook decided to give me grief too! I have been slammed with cases today and it's only after 1pm!!! I have finally gotten one cup of coffee down, eaten three muffins, and had a glass of milk. I am ready to call it a day!!!! 😀😜

So happy I was working from home today!  LOL!

Winds of change...

Thursday we had our unit meeting. A lot of stuff needed to be discussed with the workers, as quite a few things have been changing and being implemented. We lost Maria back in November and we just lost Mandy this past January as she became a Worker V.

Now I am losing my supervisor. 😕 She announced that she has taken a position with CLOE, which is our learning and training area. She will be on a team that puts together the trainings for the workers. I knew last year when she had taken FMLA that she was not happy. When she extended her leave, I expected her to come back to tell us she was leaving at that time. She returned in mid-August and a few months later was hit with a PA switch. This did not sit well. Her last day with us with be the 15th. We are having a good-bye lunch that Friday. While I am bummed to see her leave, I do understand and I wish her well. I will miss having her as my supervisor though. It's just sad. Just a year ago, we had the best unit in Tarrant County and now there is not much left of my unit. Two tenured workers are gone and we have two new workers that we are still not sure will stay.

No clue who is going to be the next supervisor for my unit. It could really be anyone. My supervisor and I got along very well and bounced off one another in a good way. She understands everything going on in my household and always gave the green light to work from home if needed. I don't like uncertainty and I am trying hard to not let anxiety over run my thoughts.

Game Time - Genshin Impact

One admin meeting for the month down. Whew! It was definitely a day. Tomorrow morning I have to compose an email to send out to my workers to let them know about some policy changes that went into effect in November. But now - I am going to chill and play me some Genshin!! Paimon here I come! I think Paimon has to be my favorite!! 😊

It's Friday!

Happy Friday! What year is it? Well, according to me for the last three days, it's still 2023. I can apparently WRITE 2024, but I cannot TYPE 2024. Yeah. Me today, having to go back and change the date on my Excel routing log for 112 cases. 😅

What a crazy day!

Today was the first holiday routing week that started off crazy and kicked my hiney! 😂 LOL! In the almost two years that I have been routing cases, today was overdrive! Add training a new admin on top of that. But I prevailed. I didn't log off my laptop until after 5:30pm, but I managed to get what needed to be done finished.

Remote all week

The best thing about my job is that I can work from home, even when I am not feeling well. And this week has been one of those weeks. Not only was it my routing week, but I have found downright just blah. 😵

Unless you are completely sick and needing to stay in bed, calling in sick to work is lame. I will always have sick days because I never call in to work and I rarely take days off. I will here and there because I think everyone needs a little time to take a breather. But sick days are over since you can work remote these days.

The family started off the month getting sick. LOL. First my daughter, followed by my son, and then me. It finally hit my husband and I think he got the worst of it. He ended up having to schedule an appointment since he needed BP refills and he was seeing a new doctor. They of course, ended up testing him for Covid and Flu. He tested negative for both which is a good thing. So, we basically all have the common cold. No fevers or any other symptoms that would deem it anything else. We are just chilling this weekend.

Happy Friday!

Hello November

Goodbye October, Hello November!! It's my work from home day and I am feeling so blah! I think I have a head cold. I am not running a fever or anything but I feel awful.

Hopefully it doesn't linger. It's my routing week and the cases just keep coming in. So many things are changing. We have new Program Administrators and meetings here and there are being scheduled. I have one scheduled for the 16th. Lets hope it all goes smooth!

Work from home ...

Monday was a holiday for me and Tuesday I had to work the front desk, again, which was supposed to be a remote day for me. For some reason, no one wanted that day, so I chose to cover it since I have less days this month because I will be taking a few days off. Today, I am working remote and I woke up at 8am. I was throwing clothes on and trying to login in to my computer at the same time. I am so thankful my personal printer will print because my work printer ran out of ink. LOL. And then this happens.

It's FRIDAY!!

Happy Friday! After two weeks of routing, with three on call Mondays, and already two desk days, don't mind if I do!!!

It's Monday

It's been quite the two weeks. The other girl that routes with me decided to take leave for a week which put me routing back to back weeks and an extra Monday.

She comes back tomorrow and I get a two week break. But I feel sorry for the workers.

Training and more training...

I haven't really been in a 'training' position since I was in the military, but here I am. LOL! Today, my trainee asked if she could route tomorrow and I told her, absolutely!! We got this!!!

And yes, I am giving myself a pat on the back.

Out of Office

Oh my gosh, this week was chaos! I only worked remote Tuesday since it was my supervisor's first day back in the office after being on leave for two months. Our regional office has been closed for two weeks since the AC went completely out in the building, so my office has been pretty busy. I started training our new admin this week, too. The building is getting a makeover. On the opposite side they have been laying new floor tile, which the adhesive they were using had so many VOCs it ran quite a few out. The last two days my supervisors have been boxing up their offices for this flooring project that was getting ready to happen over on our side this weekend. Haha.

I was only at the office for two hours and and waiting on my trainee when I started hearing a bunch of noise. Furniture started getting moved and then the carpet started getting ripped up. Next thing I know, they were sanding the floors. 😳 The noise just got louder and louder and then they were moving my supervisor's furniture out of her office and starting to rip the carpet up not even three feet away. Nope. I called my trainee and said we would pick up where we left off the next week I route, then I emailed my worker's and called my supervisor. No way was I working with all that ruckus. Then I had to text my husband to come get me. LOL! They started several hours early and honestly, they should have closed my building. 😂 Remote work it is today!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!
