Sunday Blessings

Happy Sunday! I haven't been online much lately. We decided to close out our storage unit and we have been busy transporting things back to the house. Amazing how much stuff you accumulate over the years. 😄

I have also been working on my website and re-doing some pages and checking links. Thankfully I have less than 100 pages still.

Found these on our porch...

Celebrating my 23rd Anniversary with my amazing hubby today and look what we found! Our friends up in New York had this beautiful flower basket delivered to us. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and the colors are just beautiful!! Thank you so much Alan and Dawn!!

My 'lil Tumbledart!

Next - Happy 49th Birthday to me! 🥳 LOL! Quite a day. I worked at the office today by myself, but I did receive a few Birthday email and my supervisor left me a cute card on my desk. Friday is a remote day for a lot of people in my office, so not many were there. My hubby picked me up for lunch and then I wrapped up the rest of my day. We went to the store and picked up some goodies for dinner and boy did my hubby do a fantastic job. Baked chicken parmesan and cheesy corkscrew pasta! Yum! We had cake and opened up some cards. My daughter made me this little animation that she drew in Pixel Art. It's so cute!! My gift this year was early and it was my Kindle Fire, which I am always using. Played a few games with my daughter, too. A recap below.

Thank the good Lord above! My cousin's son and his friend Sadie were found safe. His truck was pinged going through a tollbooth and they were found in Wichita, KS. He ended up in a minor fender bender and was arrested and that is when my cousin was called.

A paren't s worst nightmare...

It's been over 24 hours and my thoughts and prayers continue to be with my cousin Tina, her family and Sadie's family, and all of our extended family. Her son Tucker and his girlfriend Sadie went missing the other night. The search continues. 😔

My heart breaks 💔 even more as the hours tick by. I cannot imagine what she is going through. We see photos of missing kids in the news all too often, and on social media. We receive Amber alerts via text on our phones at all times of the day. I do not believe the news outlets have released information as of yet and no new information has come in from police departments searching. Please say a prayer for these two families. 🙏🏻

Tuesday 4

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we put 4 questions up each week for you to ponder and answer. Then we hope you visit all the other participants too. so we can get to know one another better.

Let''s plan a lovely vacation through New England to see the Autumn leaves.. Money is no object and we have all the time we would like.

1. How many days and nights would you like to be away? At least two weeks. A week is just not enough time!

2. What kind of car would you like to take on this trip? Maybe you would enjoy the train? Would you sail up the coast in a yacht? More than likely it would be a rental car because we would probably fly in from Texas. As long as it's an SUV, I think we are good. A train sounds awesome and a yacht divine. I love being on the water!!

3. Would side trips be on your agenda? Perhaps to Mystic, Connecticut, Salem, Massachusetts, Plymouth, (yes, they spelled it with an "i" ) Massachusetts, Walden Pond, Lizzie Borden's home or maybe the home of Emily Dickenson, etc. I am sure side trips would be a definite! I could see myself venturing to some of these places, but not my daughter.

4. Lobster roll, chowders, boiled dinners, brown bread, baked beans, pancakes with real maple syrup, blueberry muffins, Parker House Rolls (well loved by Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Kennedy clan.), Toll House Cookies, Red Flannel Hash, Tourtiere pork pie, (Recipe here)— what native foods catch your attention? These foods mentioned have my mouth watering. Considering I am not from the north-east, I will just taste test what seems tasty. LOL.

Maybe one day we will be able to venture up north-east again. It's been a few years now, but I still miss being in Maine.

Computer issues...

Me when my computer starts to be rude.

LOL! Sometimes I wish I had gone to tech school to learn the ins and outs of these gadgets that seem to cause us so much grief at times. My computer goes from having over 4gb of space to having 200mg and then just tanks at times while gaming. It can be annoying. 🤔

I am in the process of cleaning up tons of files that I have just accumulated. I go on download sprees, or just take video clips of games and screenshots. Yes, those videos take up a lot of space and honestly, do I really need them? Probably not. But sometimes they are funny to watch again. I am saving some files to my Microsoft Photos, family pictures and documents that I want to keep, especially if my hard drive decides to fail. I have had that happen and I could not recover the stuff I really wanted. I ended up losing so many pictures that I had taken, too.

So far, I have recovered over 3gb of space just by uninstalling a couple of programs that I no longer needed. I really need to uninstall my Libre but I have to convert so many school documents from odt files to word docs. That is going to be time consuming and I bet some will not convert right. Tables usually don't and this is what I used when I designed my kids transcripts. Oh boy. This will be fun when the times comes. 🤣

Tuesday 4

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. Here are questions to ponder for this week...

1. Are you happy with the way your life is going? Absolutely! I believe that God has finally revealed the path I am supposed to be on.

2. Are you planning any trips in the future? Well, nothing major for a while, but I hope we can get down to Galveston in a couple of months to visit Moody Gardens and Sea Wolf Park, and definitely want to make a trip down to Pier 21 to see Elissa and the Battleship Texas. Hopefully this time, we can also get to the Bishop's Palace. My kids have never seen it!

3. Are you reading anything at the moment or do you plan on reading something interesting? I read every day. Right now I am reading The Children's Dream by Roberta Kagan.

4. What's for supper tonight at your house? We are making General Tso's Chicken, white rice, and egg rolls tonight.

New Eyes

I slapped on my new neon orange shirt and pinned up my bangs. My hair is in dire need of a haircut but I have been procrastinating. I worked from home today, and it was a bit slow, so between calling out RMTS and filing, I updated my website.

My hubby took me to pick up my new glasses around 4:30 PM. I am trying the progressive lenses, and oh my word - talk about a change in vision! I know it is going to take some time to get used to a new script, especially since I haven't had a new prescription since 2016. I read this article on Web MD that it can take one to two weeks to adjust to this script, so we shall.

Roblox - Fishing Simulator

Fishing Simulator got an update! Oh wow! I love the waves. They definitely bring out the more cartoon atmosphere of the game. I caught this little game clip - when sharks attack.

Monday Memes

DON'T MOVE TO TEXAS, but if you insist on doing so ... know these important rules.

1. Save all bacon grease. You will be instructed later how to use it.

2. If you run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in the cab of a four wheel drive with a 12-pack of beer and a tow chain will be along shortly. Don't try to help them. Just stay out of their way. This is what they live for.

3. Remember: "Y'all" is singular. "All y'all" is plural. "All y'all's" is plural possessive.

4. Get used to the phrase "It's not the heat, it's the humidity". And the collateral phrase "You call this hot? Wait'll August."

5. Don't tell us how you did it there. Nobody cares.

6. If you think it's too hot, don't worry. It'll cool down - in December.

7. A Mercedes-Benz is not a status symbol...a Super-Duty pickup is.

8. If someone says they're "fixin" to do something, that doesn't mean anything's broken.

9. The value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door but the availability of shade.

10. If you are driving a slower moving vehicle on a two lane road, pull onto the shoulder. This is called "courtesy".

11. BBQ is a food group. It does NOT mean grilling burgers and hot dogs outdoors.

12. Weddings, funerals, and divorces must take into account the Rodeo & parade schedule.

13. Everything is better with hot sauce or BBQ sauce.

14. DO NOT honk your horn at us. It is obnoxious and we will sit there until we die.

15. We pull over and stop for emergency vehicles to pass.

16. We pull over for funeral processions, turn our music off and men remove hats or caps. Some people put their hand over their heart.

17. "Bless your Heart" is a nice way of saying you're an idiot.

18. No mater what kind - Sprite, Coke, Pepsi, Mtn Dew - it isn't called soda or pop. It is all called coke or soda water!

19. There will always be a tractor on the two lanes when you are running late, so allow time for that.

20. If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes, it will change.

21. We respect and consider heroes, first responders, veterans and teachers.

22. The American, Texas, POW and Gadsden flags are considered sacred.

23. The Constitution is sacred ... ALL of it!

24. Unless you're prepared to fight for it, your political opinion might be best kept to yourself.

25. Many of us carry firearms, all of us carry knives.

26. God is sovereign and we PRAY!

Remembering 9/11/2001

I still hear the sound of my mother's voice when she called early that morning, to let us know that a plane had crashed into one of the twin towers. I turned the TV on just as another plane crashed into the second tower. It was surreal watching it unfold on live television. The horror and the shock were unbelievable.

I can still feel this day to the very core. America was changed forever on this day twenty-one years ago. There are now many memorials for those who lost their lives, and even museums of the heroes and first responders that we will never forget. One of my favorite tributes will always be the Budweiser horses.

Throwback Thursdays

Gosh, I miss this place!! Spaghetti Warehouse was known for occupying historic buildings and this one was located in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards. They had the best sourdough bread and butter, and the most tasty spaghetti and meatballs! LOL! My parents would take me and my nephew here all the time when we were growing up. We loved eating in the trolley car.

Happy Labor Day

Church Online

I have listened to WRR 101.1 (a classical music station in Dallas) for years, and every Sunday morning several church services are aired over the radio, and different denominations. The more I listened and read about the different religious beliefs, the more I shied-away from my Baptist upbringing. I started questioning my beliefs and the way I was raised, and those that raised me. Both my husband and I come from strong Baptist church families. I was raised in a Baptist church, attending Bible school, going to VBS, and church camp during the summers. I was baptized when I was 11 years old and I still have my Bible that my grandparents presented me. Neither my husband or I, have been part of a church community for many years now. Our kids were not raised in church, but I was determined while homeschooling, that the Bible and theology were going to be a part of their curriculum. They are kind and caring humans who do believe in God. In my eyes, many people around me, more so family, are keen on passing judgment and quick to condemn. Over the years, I have chosen to separate myself from this, causing me to pull away from family. I believe they need to re-read Matthew 7 - Judge not, that ye be not judged.

A couple of months ago I started streaming a LIVE service from Fort Worth Presbyterian Church that I had found through Facebook. Of course this was after viewing a few services from different churches. But during one of the sermons, something shifted and I felt like this pastor from FWPC spoke directly to me. Spoke to me about my walk with Christ and the roller coaster of a ride that my life is currently traveling on. It has really been eye opening. 👀 My beliefs and my views have a new vision. I have started a new journey, and now on Sunday morning - I make sure to wake up, dress, make a cup of coffee, and boot up my computer to be online for church. I also love the hymns and the church bulletin can be downloaded to follow along with.

I know many people do not consider online worship as attending church, and it's not supposed to be a replacement for “the assembling of ourselves together”. But being honest, there is nothing wrong with “doing church” this way. Streaming church service online does not invalidate my worship, or lessen the impact of God’s Word to me, or hinder my prayers. Maybe one day I will attend in person. Maybe my family will attend with me. But right now, I am more than happy to have found this service that is restoring my Faith and making me feel a little less lost, and that is what matters most. 😊

New Script

The last couple of months we have been trying to get everyone in the house caught up with eye exams. None of us have been in years. T went a couple of years ago just as Covid was ramping up and we think the script was not accurate because of the mask having to be worn. It kept fogging up the lens as he was trying to complete the exam. When his glasses broke recently, it was an immediate situation. After he got his glasses, we scheduled Skye. Both of them got a pretty good deal on a pair of glasses and sunglasses. 🤓😎

It was my turn today and by the time I completed my exam, I had a horrible headache. The pressure in one of my eyes is extremely high, so I will need to get that checked out. The last exam I had, my optometrist told me that I needed bifocals. I declined and that has been a few years back. I previously picked out a couple of frames to keep on hold, but now because of my new lens script, those frames will not work. Due to the type of work I perform and as an avid reader, I couldn't decline bifocals this time. I have to switch back and forth between reading a computer screen and daily logs with tiny print way too much. Having to change glasses would be a nightmare, so I am going the progressive lens route. Of course this increased the cost by several hundred dollars, and I am still not sure I should have done it. 💸 Joan did manage to get my cost down to just over $670.00 for two pair. Hopefully, within a couple of weeks, I will have my new eyes. 😉

What a Beauty!

Look at her! I cannot wait to visit and see her from a distance. This screenshot was taken from Galveston's Harbor House webcam. She appears to be across The Elissa which is docked at the Seaport Museum at Pier 22. I see a future trip in the next few months!! 😊

Titanic finally found

On this day - 37 years ago - my favorite ocean liner was found! 🤩 In 1985, a US-French expedition led by Jean-Louis Michel of IFREMER and Robert Ballard of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, located the wreckage of the Titanic on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, roughly 400 miles off Newfoundland.

Let the Fall season begin...
