Our bankruptcy hearing was today and I am happy to say that it went very smooth. We were last on the docket since our attorney's last name is Wright. I guess they go in alphabetical order. So glad to have that out of the way and hopefully we hear good news. Today was also the last day to file taxes and we just got ours filed within this slim time frame, thanks to my mother-in-law. We never wait this long. We normally file months in advance to get them out of the way, but we kind of procrastinated because of our bankruptcy hearing. It wouldn't have mattered. This is the first year that we haven't received a tax return.
No more child tax credits or earned income. Our kids are grown and it's kind of sad really. I spent the majority of my marriage when our children were small having our tax return taken by an ex-spouse, along with MY CHILD TAX CREDITS - for T and Skye - every year. Even though we were current on child support payments, we still could not have a bank account and we lost our tax return every dang year. The child support laws really need to change. And now we are at a place in our lives where we get nothing back, and could really use that extra cushion.
Kudos to those getting a return, and a huge slap on the back for those of you still lying through your teeth to fool Uncle Sam.
